for Bernard Feeney.
He may be listed under Feeny in Holytown, or Finney at Clyde. He was married by that time to Catherine Cunniff. He would have been between the ages of 24 and 28.
Please let me know if you find him, I know he was deceased in Dec 1866, on his daughter Elizabeth's birth cert he is listed as deceased, occupation Coalminer. She was born in Uddingston.
Thanks for your help.

Re Bernard Feeny
Hi Karen,
Did you know you can now view the 1861 census pages online at Scotlandspeople?
http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/
The name index gives,
1861 census 625-2 Ed 3 p 22 (Bothwell Parish)
Bernard FEENY 24, b Roscommon, IRE
Catherine 23, b Roscommon, IRE
Mary abt 1, b Glasgow, LKS
--
As daur Elizabeth was born 16 Dec 1866, and if Bernard was the father (not saying he wasn't!), then he must've died in 1866.

Hi Karen,
The 1861 name index has Bernard as FEENY - not FEENEY.
But this is from a census CD, and not the GROS index used on ScotlandsPeople.
Always the chance one or the other has errors.
With that name i would first try Fee*n* (and hope that the name didn't start with Fea).
This would pick up "Feeny", "Feeney", "Feenie" and maybe a couple of other "Fee" starting names - but wouldn't be that many.
Searching on Fe*n* would give you, for eg, loads of unwanted Fergusons!
But the above search would be no use if indexed as Finney or Finnie.
Finn*e* might be the best to find any indexed thus - but you'd get Finnegan etc too.
Sometimes it seems you just can't win!
So occasionally there is no other option than to begin another search with a different starting combination if your first yields nothing.
Hope you get him! If not then just say and i'll get details at some point.
Though a copy of the original page is always more interesting than any transcription.

ps, but there are some expert *wildcard* searchers on TS - maybe they'll have much better suggestions on finding a Feeney.

Dear David and Jack,
Ok I found him and wife Catherine, that was them in Holytown, and thats where it ends with him, I cannot find a death cert for him under any spelling or with wildcards. Im going crazy and cash poor!! I know he is listed as deceased on his daughters BC, I guess it could be a mistake??
I viewed all the records I could for the co Lanark, I guess he could have gone elsewhere, I even checked Ellisisland.org to see if he went to the states. NO LUCK, poor man evaporated!
Any suggestions?
Karen

Had you written "daughter" I might have gone for a mistake, but "daughters" makes me doubt that possibility....... unless, of course he'd abandoned his family and Mammy told the daughters that he was deiddelmarco wrote:......and thats where it ends with him, I cannot find a death cert for him under any spelling or with wildcards. Went back to Ireland?, or was south of the border in England?, - what was his profession?, - one that could naturally lead to travel ?delmarco wrote:I viewed all the records I could for the co Lanark, I guess he could have gone elsewhere, I even checked Ellisisland.org to see if he went to the states. Failing all else, then you may have to consider abduction by those aliens in their flying saucers, - one of the unlucky ones not to be returned to Planet Earth

David;
I should have said Daughter (last child) He was coal miner on her BC, and on their MC.
I never gave a thought to his walking out on them, That is an interesting twist, and his mother in law was the one to sign the daughter Elizabeth's BC. Hmmmm.
He was from Ireland originally, that's why I thought maybe he went back there. I guess too, he could have been hitchhicking on a ufo as well......
tee hee!
I am bound and determined to find him, wherever he is!!
Tootles,
Karen

Could only see two births registered:
1. CATHERINE FENEY - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Birth: 08 AUG 1864 Bothwell, Lanark, Scotland
2. MARY FEENEY - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Birth: 24 AUG 1860 High Church, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland
There's another for Elizabeth in Bothwell with Bernard as Barney:
1. ELIZABETH FEENY - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Birth: 16 DEC 1866 Bothwell, Lanark, Scotland
So try a death of
B?rn* Fe*n* 1863 to 1864 for Lanark
