1841 and 1851 censuses coming online in 2006 .....

Post by AndrewP » Fri Dec 23, 2005 8:05 am

I see GROS / SP have been brave. They have named months for these two censuses coming online.

1841 - Feb/Mar 2006
1851 - Jan 2006

Got your credit cards at the ready?

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

And there was me, sworn to secrecy

Both dates are believable, - the only problem could be that the 1851 images have a much higher proportion of bad/faint images compared to the other censuses, - to the extent that GROS reckon that they may have to add resources to the "SP Unit" to cope with a flood of contact forms.

With both the 1841 and 51 Census coming on line wouldn't it have been great if SP could have introduced a method of people buying gift vouchers. I don't want to appear as if I am not thankful for the gifts/vouchers I will be receiving tomorrow but imagine a big stack of credits just waiting to be wielded in the New Year. xmas:cheesygrin:

Hmmmmmmm........ NRH are selling NRH vouchers, but no mention of SP vouchers................

But if vouchers can be set up for the 1901 census and other sites, why not for SP xmas:question: xmas:sad:

Hello David,

bearing in mind Stewie's comments about keeping secrets, have another look at my e-mail to the UG on 21st November titled "Snippets from Richard".

To everyone else, sorry for being cryptic.

Regards,

John

Ah ken, ah ken, but I was unable to disclose before today, - sworn to total secrecy by Raymond, - that it was originally going to be the 1841 in January, due to the bad quality of the 1851 images; decision since reversed as the overall quality of the 1851 images is not quite so bad as originally feared xmas:exclaim:

Cryptic rules xmas:roll:

Hello David,

sorry to be so cryptic that you picked the wrong topic: my fault! The e-mail where I mentioned the news about the censuses also contained something about vouchers.........

Regards,

John
