NEW YEAR HANGOVER. Please help find cure.....
Happy New Year everyone. After a racing start on the Waddington family in Lanarkshire, I have hit a brick wall trying to find more details on William Waddington and Ann Stewart, who married in Cumbernauld on May 19, 1845. I know his parents were William Waddington, a weaver and Isabella (Elizabeth) Love and that he has siblngs Thomas and John, but have not got a clue as to where the couple set up home in the early days of their marriage. They are not showing up in any census although all their children seem to be gathered around the Lanarkshire area. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello there Reporter
Here's my favorite hangover cure
From your info I was a wee bit confused but thought you were referring to the whereabouts of William and Ann after they first got married. If this is the marriage....
WILLIAM WADDINGTON - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Marriage: 19 MAY 1845 Cumbernauld, Dunbarton, Scotland
Then you will undoubtedly be interested to see that the BIVRI cds produce two children (well actually William and Ann produced the children and the cds only produced the data
) How nice that baby Isabella could attend her parents wedding
! Oh ...but the point is....both births were registered in New Monkland.....so....my money is on their initial address being there.
WADDINGTON, Isobella Christening
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 9 Feb 1845
Christening Date: 9 Jun 1845 Recorded in: New Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland
Father: William WADDINGTON
Mother: Ann STEWART
Source: FHL Film 1066601 Dates: 1840 – 1855
WEDDINGTON, William Christening
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 27 Jul 1846
Christening Date: 6 Sep 1846 Recorded in: New Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland
Father: William WEDDINGTON
Mother: Ann STEWART

Best wishes

Hangover cure
Hello Jean. Many thanks for your help. Sorry I was a bit vague about my problem. I have the two children you mention, but William and Ann simply seem to have appeared from out of the blue and after their marriage they vanish again. Can't find a trace on birth or death registers and they don't seem to appear in the census reports. All I can find out from the marriage record is that William snr was the son of another William Waddington and Isabella or Elizabeth Waddington, maiden name Love. Hope you are well.

New year hangover
Wonderful stuff Jean and Jack. Many thanks. I've been an investigative journalist for 35 years at national level, but as a complete novice in the family tree game, I can only stand back in amazement and admire the incredible enthusiasm and deep research capabilities of Talking Scot members. My father-in-law, 84-year-old William Waddington, a great Scot, is sadly terminally ill. He served in Iraq and North Africa during World War with the original Rolls Royce armoured car brigade and was chairman of the Bristol RAF Association. This belated rush at discovering his proud Scootish roots is for him. Many thanks Colin.

New year hangover
Bathgate boy to Paisley boy, again many thanks. I see the next big hurdle being crossing the Border to the Waddington's traditional homeland, probaly Lancashire or Yorkshire. Am still getting impression, though, that there's a little further to go in Scotland. The Aberdeen Waddingtons are pulling me to further enuiries. Anything I can help you with, please ask.

1861 census
Hi Colin,
I'd a quick look at the 14yr old William in 1861 - just to see if he was as a nephew; glad to see he was.
And Janet was as married; so if true, then where's hubby Thomas got to?
Fortunately there are very few "Waddingtons" in Scotland.
