OOps just noticed christenings rather than births (I thought they were triplets)so this may be Helen - you'd need to check the marriage entry for correct parents.

I doubt triplets but there are twins occur very frequently in the Yuill line (according to my grandmother)

Hello Kristen,

A search on SP finds the death of a James Yuill in 1878, born 1806, in Abbey, Paisley.

Could be worth a look.

Regards,
Annette M

Hi Kristin

Welcome to TalkingScot.

The IGI listing below shows a significant gap between the 1826 birth and the three 1834 christenings. I would male a fair guess that the three were born in the period 1826 to 1834, but were all baptized together, or at least their baptisms were registered together.

AGNES YOUL - Birth: 20 NOV 1826 High Church, Paisley, Renfrew
ALEXANDER YOUL - Christening: 25 MAR 1834 High Church, Paisley, Renfrew
HELEN YOUL - Christening: 25 MAR 1834 High Church, Paisley, Renfrew
MARGARET YOUL - Christening: 25 MAR 1834 High Church, Paisley, Renfrew
DUGALD YUILL - Birth: 20 APR 1836 High Church, Paisley, Renfrew
JAMES YUILL - Christening: 13 OCT 1839 High Church, Paisley, Renfrew

Have you seen the OPRs that these entries on the IGI were extracted from? There may be more clues to be found there.

It could be that the IGI is wrongly indexed and there are three individual baptisms. Or maybe the OPRs show that they were baptised together, and may also show dates of birth that were never transcribed into the IGI. Or the most likely one is that the IGI is true to the OPRs and you will never know the truth for sure, whether these are triplets or separate births.

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

Yes, I am sure the group was baptised togther. I have the family group in 1841 and the 1851 census. I have yet to get the OPR for the kids. So many things to purchase that I have not done so yet (US $ not very good for purchasing in pounds). I have the son Duglad's birth record and his marriage record. Tons of goodies on those pieces. Dugald Yuill (son of James Yuill) married in 1860 in HC Paisley to Janet Cochrane, quickly had 4 children and went to the US in 1867. Where they had quite a few more children and made a good life for themselves. My grandmother is a Yuill so I am so interested in finding more about the family. Little seems to be out there on this group.

I will check on SP for the death record of James Yuill. Have not been down that road too carefully.
Thank you for the warm welcome!Kristin

Hi Kristin,

You should be able to ask your nearest Latter Day Saints Family History Center to get the OPR microfilm in for you. I believe there is a small fee for this, but the film remains at that FHC for a few weeks (?). All going well, the FHC may have a microfilm viewer with a photocopier attached, allowing you to obtain a print from the OPR. If the copier is not available, you should still be able to view the film and copy by hand the text for your family entries.

No $/£ exchange rate problems there. 8)

All the best,

Andrew Paterson
