Rankin/Waddell 1901 .....

Greetings All,
Trying to find information re Marion Auld Rankin (b:abt 1880 Portpatrick) and David Waddell. I understand that they where married in Govan 12 July 1901. Marion came to Canada about 1912 and there is no mention of David. Did he die or did they divorce? I do not think that they had any children, but am not certain.

Smid is right...you can search on the SP website for a possible death of David right up through 1955. But since you think he may have been already dead by 1912 then set that as your first parameter. You should also find their marriage if you don't have it already. Marriages are available online through 1929...while births are only available through 1905.

The 1880 and 1901 dates are correct, - the records are there on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk waiting for you to get them.

From the 1891 census it looks like Sarah was John's second wife.

It looks like wee Marion was named after her Gran.

Once again, many thanks for the efforts on my behalf, yes Sarah was John's second wife and the information you have provided pretty well matches what I have. I just have to tidy up the Waddell/Rankin connection (which I will do)
Sarah and a son William (my grandfather) came to Canada in 1910. Marion and her brother Alan followed about 2 years later but there is no mention of David Waddell at this time. She later remarried in Canada.
