Hi there
I am looking for Charles Revolta born c1833 in Invergordon, son of John Revolta and Jessie/Janet Banks. John Revolta was born in Italy but became a british citizen. Jessie/Janet Banks was born c1803 in Invergordon.
By the 1861 census the family are in Elgin. So far only Charles was born in Invergordon, two daughters were born in Elgin.
Any info would be great. Tried IGI for date of marriage of John and Jessie but no luck.
thanks
Fiona
1841/1851 census Invergordon? .....

Not clear if you have Charles in 1881, by which time he's down in Edinburgh..............

Alexander EDINGTON U 21 M Edinburgh, Scotland

At least the spelling of the surname remained the same.
The occupation of John's father as shown on John's death register entry is one of the most unusual I've ever seen
Given the origins of the REVOLTA family there's a high chance that they were Catholic. However there wasn't a church or a mission in Invergordon until 1866.
There are earlier records in Elgin, St Silvester, but births only from 1840 onwards, marriages from 1841.
