1901 CENSUS Aikenhead House .....

Post by Annieboag » Tue Feb 14, 2006 5:23 pm

Could someone help me please !
I'm trying to find Kenneth Boag in the 1901 Census. He and his then wife and subsequent wife (!!!) were working at Aikenhead House Cathcart. Their address is shown as" The stables"-he was a coachman. He and Elizabeth Boag had a 4 year old son Charles. Cant find a trace! Surely these big houses weren't exempt, and I have seen servants on a census so I dont think they were ignored....
Another thing-Kenneth Boag changed his name from Bogey. Now I am grateful he did this but why.......? surely after 5generations the name wouldn't have been embarassing, how can I find out , curiosity is killing me!!
Does anyone have any good ideas?
Many thanks
Annie

Hi Annie

I tried a 1901 Census search using KEN* BO*G* just to cover all possibles.....on this criteria there are only 2 results....father and son in Cathcart. You'll notice the spelling is off.....

Best wishes

Hi Annie

Good to hear you found them...and also found a new way of searching!! You came to the right place as I first learned about * and ? (aka 'wildcards') from folks around here too. There's no limit to the neat things you can learn hanging out at TalkingScot so hope you come back and visit often! :D

Best wishes
Jean
