Hi Jack,
It could possibly be the right family as i have Anthony senior on the 1901 census in England as a boiler maker. But i have just found another son according to the 1901 called William born c1875 in Scotland, but he's not with the family on the 1881 that you found for me, so to be honest i am not sure.
Thank you for your time in doing the look up for me

hi Jack
Yes i do have part of the family on the 1891 census they were in Newcastle by then. I have Anthony Born Ireland, Margaret born Scotland, There is also a daughter Margaret born c1881 in Scotland with them.
But no sons with them and i cant seem to find either of them.
Then in 1901 William c1875 & Margaret c1881 are with the parents and Andrew/Anthony born c1877 is with his wife also in Newcastle.
The sons i cant find anywhere on the 1891 census in england. They both just seem to disappear to pop up again in 1901.
Thank you for all your time Jack

Hi Kaz,
I suppose if your friend wants to pursue it further then see if the BC for Anthony born Greenock abt 1880/1881 yields any clues.
It should at least give his mother's maiden name & when/where his parents married.
(hopefully in Scotland - their MC would then give both their parents' names)
But still the problem, are they the right Anthony & Margaret...?
