1851 Census .....

Post by wini » Tue Mar 07, 2006 11:56 am

:I think the 1851 must be jinxed.
This is the second time tonight I have tried to post a query.
The last time I got "this page cannot be displayed" so I am having another go.

Has the UG finished with their wee look and what is now the proposed date of release.
I keep buying more credits and I keep spending them.
Someone will have to save me from myself.

Me too & I wouldn't mind if I got anywhere but until I get the info(XXXXXPLEASE!!!!) from the 1851 I cant really get anywhere.I have decided that if they are not on the 1851 Census then they are going to be ditched/divorced/disowned from the family!

OH Joette,

Do you realise what you are promising to do.!!!!!!

We will be having a TS convention in Sauchiehall Steet on that day.
It will be the busiest day of the year for SS

What has disappointed me is that after being so delayed the images are poor in some illegible-I've sent three illegible images e-mails already&the poor indexing.
For example I was searching for Janet Mcfarlane aged 48 so I put in 45-52 range one came up & not in the area I was expecting.Couldn't tell if it was her or not or even if it was male/female as "she" was a widower &a Ploughman! So tried for her son with a very common name -unfortunately the more exotic Ramsay wardlaw was in digs & low & behold there was John plus Mum Janet(48) & Dad Duncan but no mention of her in my previous search & five credits wasted!
So what is the 1841 going to be like!

Joette

Your forgetting the 1 credit you have to spend to view the result ! so its 6 credits wasted !

For someone like me who has found my most important immediate family on freecen 41/51 census it makes you appreciate the problems they may have had transcribing.
Scotland - Donaldson / Moggach / Shaw / Geddes / Sim / Gray / Mackie / Richards / Joel / Coull / Mckimmie / Panton / McGregor
Ireland and Scotland - Casey / McDade / Phillips / McCandle / Dinely / Comaskey + various spellings
