Noble and Logan Family .....

Post by dmd1164 » Fri Mar 24, 2006 10:28 pm

Having trouble finding any records of Alexander Noble and Marion Noble (nee Logan) on the Freecen census records. Their daughter Margaret Noble married Alexander Thomson on 19/03/1889. So surely there should be something somewhere???

Also - on the marriage record for this couple - Margaret's mother is deceased yet the witness' name is also down as Marion Logan - could this be the grandmother of Margaret Noble?

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards
Donna

Hi Donna
In what area of Scotland were you hoping to find them in the census?
later edit:
Is this them on IGI?
ALEXANDER NOBLE
Marriages:
Spouse: MARION LOGAN
Marriage: 28 DEC 1855 Leith, Midlothian, Scotland

The Marion Logan who was the witness at he marriage coudl also maybe be a cousin?

Best wishes

Hi Lesley

Margaret and Alexander were married in North Leith, Alexander Thomson was listed as living at 12 Glover Street Leith, there isn't an address listed against Margaret Noble on the Marriage registration. So somewhere in that vicinity I would guess. If that's any help.

Hi Donna
I'm not doing too well on this one.. this family of Thomsons are at 13 Glover Street in 1881, which seems a bit of a coincidence, but the Alexander here seems a bit young..?

Could this be your Nobles? Did Marion die and Alexander remarry before 1881? If so, she died after 19 July 1870 when dau. Margaret was born.

Were Margaret and Alexander Thomson in their teens when they married as this Margaret also seems youngish to me...? But the children John, William & Margaret would seem to be about the right ages and order here.

Hi Lesley

Gee you're quick.

From what I have Margaret Noble married at 19 on 18-03-1899 so she would have been born around 1870.

Alexander Noble her father was listed as a Rope Spinner on the marriage registration. Marian Noble (nee Logan) was listed as deceased. So yes she would have passed away prior to Margaret's marriage.

So looks like Alexander married again after Marion passed away. The children must have been young. AND it's interesting that Wallace has turned up in the names.

My son William is William John Wallace McGill. William after my grandfather, John after my partner's dad and Wallace - well Stephen says after William Wallace...... just interesting.

Many thanks for you help Lesley.

What site address are you using for the IGI records?
