Hi BillyF
I see you are searching McIlory. I am a McIlroy and have managed to trace GG Grandparents with some held from others who were married in Anderson Glasgow 04/02/1860. They were called Peter McIlroy and Catherine Sherry. They had quite a few children. Any relation? I have their parents names but unable to trace any further back.

Re: Margret Kelly
Hello Bob,
could mother-in-law actually be his wife's, i.e. her first husband's mother? The death of 70-year old Margaret Kelly in 1899 at 24 Rosemount Street looks interesting, but the informant was her son James Kelly.
Regards,
John

Hello Bob,
what do you know about Mary Jane's first marriage? She does not appear to have brought any children to her marriage to William Wilson, so perhaps it was short.

John

Sporran,
That's another area that I've never been able to crack.
On her death certificate, her first husband is given as George Butler, a Polce Sergeant. I've tried to track down a Sergeant Butler through Irish Police and Scottish records ie. Mitchell library - but no luck. Mary Janes' M/S is given as McKinney or McKenzie depending on the record looked at.
Bob.

Only a suggestion. Have you tried the Transport Police? They are pretty much seperate from local and regional Police forces.
