Donald family 1861 .....

Post by Dennis » Fri Mar 31, 2006 3:34 am

Hi:)

I'm uploading the 1861 census for a James Donald & family. James is shown as aged 41 and his squeeze is 39. It looks like the eldest son, John, reads as 28 or is it 20? Birthplaces are difficult to read.

Hiya Dennis! Long time no see  !

It looks like you've got a James DONALD and Elizabeth STIRLING there. I'm going on a limb and guessing the age that looks like a 28 is really a 20. Look at the other examples of the numeral 8 on the page....take into consideration that Elizabeth and John seemed to be born in the same place....if her age is accurate at 38 and she gave birth to him than he's got to be only 20....say nothing of that age fitting nicely with the descending ages of the rest of the ball team

James b Clackmannan Clackmannan
Elizabeth b. Kinross Fossoway
John 20 b. Kinross Fossoway
James 18 b. Clackmannan Dollar
Robert 11 b. Stirling Stirling
Andrew 9 b. Stirling Stirling
Alexander 5 b. Perth Logie
Charles 2 b. Clackmannan Dollar

those are my guesses....and here are the results of the IGI parent search:

1. JAMES DONALD - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 19 SEP 1841 Dollar, Clackmannan, Scotland

2. HELEN STIRLING DONALD - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Birth: 27 JAN 1863 Alloa, Clackmannan, Scotland

3. CHARLES DONALD - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 21 APR 1858 Alloa, Clackmannan, Scotland

4. ALEXANDER DONALD - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 05 FEB 1855 Logie, Perth, Scotland

Of course now that I look at it...you could run and not walk to buy that 1855 BC of Alexander and see if there is anything of further interest on it....

Best wishes
Jean
