Suprising family .....

Post by HeatherH » Sat Mar 05, 2005 8:14 pm

I was looking for the birth of my gg Grandfather and had no luck. Not even the IGI.However they mention 3 children for me to check out one of which is a 1855 birth.I was surprised to find she was the 6 living child of this couple. The other 2 mentioned in the IGI are born after her.
Would anyone have access to the 1861 census for High Church Paisley? If so would you mind having a peak for my kin? Here's what I know:
William Holmes married Agnes Millar 24 Sept 1843
children that I can find
Mary Holmes 16 March 1855 High Church Paisley
Cecilia Holmes 7 Aug 1857 High Church Paisley
William Holmes 17 April 1861 High Church Paisley

My gg Grandfather was:
John Holmes abt 1846 High Church Paisley(He later married in High Church Paisley)So he fits in between the parents marriage and mary's birth.
Also mentioned on Mary's 1855 birth is that there are 3 boys and 2 girls living.
I've "spent all my money and pawned my jacket "as the song says but I've had no luck so far.

Hi Heather,

What was the address on William's birth entry on 17th April?

It will be a whole lot easier for someone to look at the census if they have an address.

Regards,

Matthew 3
Agnes 1

You're right Annette - addresses make it much easier! - especially when we don't as yet have an online index....

Hi Heather,

Haven't a clue! - names are from an index.
I'll get the full details within a week or so if no one else gets them first.

hi Heather,

I assume you have seen Agnes age 60 and John age 35 living in 5 and 3 Barclay Street respectively on the 1881 census.
