It'd been so long that i'd lost the plot - had to re-read everything.... I've added Annette's 1881 findings in Barclay St to keep them all together.
9 Orchard St would be abt 250yds from Barclay St.
130 George St would be quite near, and across, from Barclay St.
I know this 1st census says father Matthew, but it's the only William with a near occupation in 1841.
The patternmakers i remember as a lad were highly skilled joiners, not actual engineers.

These early censuses will at least give you something to think about. Elizabeth & Cecilia's MCs would need to be checked to see if they are the daurs of William & Agnes, but i think they are.
