Hi,
I appear to have exhausted all my soundex and wildcard options looking Scotland-wide for the family of Andrew and Margaret Diamond in the 1841 census. The family appear in the 1851 census for Old Monkland, Lanarkshire where two, possibly three of the children, were born pre 1841 in Lanarkshire but none of the family can be found in the 1841 census.
In 1851 Margaret Diamond was 17, Michael15, and Andrew 10.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim
Born pre 1841 but not in census but there in 1851 census ...

Silly question probably, but have you already looked at the 5 Margaret Diamonds, aged between 15 and 20 on the 1841 Census on Scotlands People?
Is the IGI 1815 marriage between Andrew Diamond and Margaret McBean yours?
Could they be hiding under the name McBean? Yes, I know, I'm clutching at straws. Would be better getting back to the housework.
Regards
Catriona

Catriona,
Yippee! Solved the puzzle. The suggestions you made didn’t pan out but gave me food for thought. On the 1851 census young Andrew Diamond was aged 10 and born in Rutherglen just before or after the census, so I concentrated on that district. By a process of elimination I found the whole Diamond family, minus young Andrew, recorded as Duncan.
Thanks,
Jim.
