hi everyone
i am new here and just getting going on the family tree in the past couple of years. i am researching CUMMINGS< IRVINE<COCHRANE<HASTIE.

my mothers father was GEORGE CUMMINGS B:15-6-1911 Redding, Stirlingshire he married ELLEN IRVINE 1940 i have most the information needed for him up to the present day

his father was also GEORGE CUMMINGS B:4-5-1876 Airdrie, Lanarkshire
he married SUSAN COCHRANE B:ireland M:31-12-1900 Larkhall their children were GEORGE, JOHN, JAMES COCHRANE, CHARLES, ELIZABETH and THOMAS.

i think?? his parents were JOHN CUMMINGS B:ireland and ELIZABETH (lizzie) HASTIE B:Lanarkshire, Glasgow. The 1901 census shows GEORGE, LIZZIE, JOHN and SUSAN in same dwelling Hatch road, parish of Old Monkland

about 20 years ago i went to scotland and we visited the family plot. i think it was portebello cemetry were there are several family members together but i dont have any other info.

can anyone tell me who or where to contact to follow these further and info on how to find brothers and sister for GEOGE CUMMINGS B:4-5-1876 and SUSAN COCHRANES realtives
or could any one out there be looking for this same family?

if indeed that is the right George! From his Marriage certificate in 1900 it should state who his parents were. From this census you can see he had a little brother Andrew. If you proceed to find the family on the 1891 census you're likely to locate even more siblings. Because they were all born after the IGI extraction date for Births this is the easiest way to try and isolate the family members. Likewise for finding Susan COCHRANE's parents....they should be named on the MC. This is easily found by searching the Scotland's People website and for a small fee for a few credits you can print off a digital image of the original document. Once you have her parents names you can be sure of locating them in the census as well.

i have the MC for GEORGE CUMMINGS B:in 1911 thats were i got parents names from but I do not have the MC for GEORGE CUMMINGS B:1876 married to SUSAN COCHRANE. guess thats what i need to get next

I just cant believe that within a few mins of putting up my first post i have an answer to several questions that i have been banging my head against the brick wall for the past several months

To find the marriage cert of George and Susan (even with the 1900 date) you'll have to look in the 1901 records for Larkhall. The marriage was very late in December 1900 and wasn't registered until early the following year.

Georges Parents, John and Elizabeth Hastie's marriage is there from 1872, Clyde, naming both sets of parents.

Elizabeth Taylor Donaldson Hastie's birth is in IGI for 1840 (although this may be an older sister who died) in Glasgow as is the Parents marriage in 1838
