1891 census .....

Post by Aileen » Fri Oct 27, 2006 3:42 pm

Hello!

Just wondering if anyone can help me!!!!!

I have managed to trace my great grandad but on the census return he is not listed as son but rather as what I think says Do? :?

This is also true of his brother Alexander and in the column for place of birth the entire family is listed as Do.

Can anybody help me decipher what this means?

Thanks in advance

Aileen

"do" or "Do" = ditto = same as in the entry above.

Enumerator speak for Ditto
Mary
A cat leaves pawprints on your heart
McDonald or MacDonald (some couldn't make up their mind!), Bonner, Crichton, McKillop, Campbell, Cameron, Gitrig (+other spellings), Clark, Sloan, Stewart, McCutcheon, Ireland (the surname)
