Your Opinion on Deciphering This .....

Post by caraid » Sun Nov 12, 2006 4:46 pm

Hi Folks
In case you are bored on this Sunday afternoon I would like your opinions on this census return. It is for the 1851 and it is the first entry on the page, George, nephew, 7yrs. I do actually know what SP have it indexed under, just need your thoughts as I cannot find anything on this name. He is nephew to Sara Dickson nee Mitchell and she is 21yrs old and a widow. she and her neice Christina Ormiston are on the previous page. I now need to know who he is, who's child ect (you will all know the feeling  ) http://talkingscot.com/gallery/displayi ... p?pos=-904

ps A drink to who gets nearest [5 cups]

Cheers
Caraid

Hi Caraid,

Yep I'm bored [snore] and surrounded by brick walls :?
It looks like George Lazaronni to me but just had a look on IGI and nothing comes up so I guess I won't be getting that drink

Paula
Searching for Barclay Aberdeenshire, Stewart Edinburgh, Brown Edinburgh & Uphall, Finlayson E Lothian, Fairley & Renton E & W Lothian for starters!

Hi Caraid

Looks to me (at 200% magnification  ) like Lazaronni - needed the magnification to see the dot above the i, because at first glance it looked like an l at the end but that wid jist be stupit - so Lazaronni is my best guess.

Bit exotic for Fawkirt, is it no?

Best wishes

A quick look on 1841 census on Ancestry has a family of Lazzarino's in Edinburgh - Anthony (born Foreign Parts) and Elizabeth both age 25, Angelina born 1838 and Joseph born 1841 (these 3 born Midlothian).

Could something have been lost in translation between Edinburgh and Falkirk in 10 years?

Anthony's occupation is "artert" which using amazing powers of deduction could be artist.

Does that ring any bells?

Best wishes

Hi
I owe you all a drink, if your ever in Eyemouth pop in. George Lazaronni it is. Thanks Pinkshoes for the 1841, just need to find out whether it was Sara's sister who would be a Mitchell or her Husbands sisters who would be Dickson's who would be wed to the Lazaronni's. We all hope for an unusual name to follow, but this looks impossible. according to SP free search there is only 1 Lazaronni and that is the 1 I have got :o . Wonder if there is other spellings. Anyone like to guess

Sticking with the alternative spelling  LDS has a bunch of wee Lazzarino's born to Anthony Lazzarino and ISABELLA Mitchell between 1855 (hooray) and 1861 in Edinburgh - would that be any good ??

Sorry if I'm sending you on a wild goose chase.

IGI - marriage between Anthony Lazzroine and Isabella Mitchell or Leonardi on 11 June 1846 St Cuthberts Edinburgh.

I think I'm just getting silly now - don't know about spaghetti - I'm thinking more "ma heid's purridge".

I'm not saying anything else on this one, cos I think I'm leading you off on one (not intentionally you understand)

Best wishes
