Mackie Family Old Machar to Partick ,,,,,

Post by David Lang » Mon Dec 18, 2006 11:43 pm

I am trying to trace on the 1871 and 1891 Census my Mackie family.

I have them in the 1861 Census living in Old Machar in Aberdeen Alexander is the head with wife Jane (born in Inverness and soon to die very young).Ther son Robert (Born 1850) is said to be scholar

By 1871 Alexnader has remarried to Cellia or Selina (1881 cENSUS Spelling) I cannot seem to fing them despite trying all A M*CKIE born 1818 +/- 5 years.

By 1881 Robert has married Margaret Grant (1875 Old Machar) and moved to sunny Glasgow he is described as a Rivetter , he is living in 96 North Street with Children William(5) , Robert Campbell (3) , jOHN (2) and Alexander (3MTHS).

I have Robert/Margaret again in the 1901 Census at 439 Dumbarton Road, Partick as a Ship Plater aged 51 Born in Aberdeen.

I have tried searching with Wildcards for them in the 1891 Census but cannot seem to locate them

Can anybody help!!!!

TIA
David

Hello David,

The 1870 marriage of Alexander Mackie to Cecilia Chalmers (ms Hall) in St Nicholas, Aberdeen can be found on ScotlandsPeople. They are in St Nicholas for the 1871 census as Alexander (53) and Silina (51).

All the best,

AndrewP
