Hi all,
I wonder if SKS can possibly try looking for this family on the indexes please? I have tried so many times to find them on the 1881 census with no luck. I can only think there is a mistranscription/mispelling. I have tried all wild cards at SP.
They should be in the Bridgeton Dennistoun even Springburn area...the addresses I have in 1882 and 1885 are Bridgeton, and in 1872 the wife died in Bridgeton. They seemed to stay in Main Street, although Norman Street was the address in 1885.
They are:
Hugh Mooney, about 65, b. Ireland, Chemist's labourer
Catherine, about 21, b. Bridgeton
Elizabeth, about 20, b. Bridgeton, possibly a bleachfield worker
Agnes, about 16, b. Bridgeton, possibly a sewing machinist

Thanks everone for having a good look for me. After your knowledgeable attempts I can now let it rest and assume that they were back in Ireland in that year.
The daughter Elizabeth Mooney was my gg grandmother and she was back in Scotland in October 1882 to marry Henry Madden, and they probably all came back to Scotland (although I can't find Catherine) as Agnes married and died there and Hugh died in 1893. When they returned from wherever they were, they resumed life in Bridgeton...
Thanks Nelmit for the info for John Tooney and family. I have no idea whether he could be related as I only have Hugh, none of his siblings, no cousins etc. Hugh and his wife Agnes McCallion only had girl children, so of course none named after Uncle John, hehe, so no clue there.
I appreciate everyone's wonderful help!
