Aucheuraith Road, Blantyre .....

Post by Margaret » Sun Feb 25, 2007 10:17 am

Hi there
I have just purchased my Dad's war records form WW1, although hard to read worth the money to just have them. Now my Dad enlisted unknown to his Mother at the age of 16 years, I know I have the correct Army number for him but it is showing me that he lived at 10 Aucheuraith (spelling ?) Road, Blantyre, but he actually lived in Hardy Street, Blantyre. Is there some way that I can find out who lived at 10 Aucheuraith Road in 1915. I am wondering if he gave a false address, as I believe they didnt do to much checking up. Many thanks for any help anyone is able to give me.
Cheers
Margaret

Probably should be Auchenraith / Auchinraith (both spellings found).

All the best,

Valuation Rolls might help.

Thank you David and Andrew for your help, just a question David where do I find the valuation rolls? Please, I am visiting Scotland later this year so hoping to get a couple of days for hands on research.
Cheers

Depends on the area.

See both the Libraries and Societies tabs above, where you will find someone who can advise on the situation in the locality involved.
