Sensational information Jack

Much appreciation! 1871 census lists Elizabeth Dixon residing at Rosebank House. Any ideas what "Rosebank House" might mean? Know what you mean about the eyes needing a checkup.

Regards
Marilyn

Rosebank House

Hi Marilyn,

Haven't a clue what Rosebank House was, but at the same address in 1871 other houshold heads were 1 labourer, 3 miners, 1 shoemaker, and 1 woolen mill worker. Possibly try some of the Ayrshire BBs, or contact Dalry Library to see if anyone knows of it.

Here's the enumerator's route to include Rosebank in 1871 -

North St: Beginning with the Stanley Bank and ending with Crosskeys, and James Stirrat's back houses on the west side, and on the east side with what belonged to the late Robert Stevenson, including Stanley House, Newhouses, Neil Dirman's, Rosebank, Bleeze Rd, Templand, and Bleeze Farmhouse, and the houses at Bowling-Green and Gas-Works.
