The online IGI gives the following children to Walter Beavis and Jessie Omand.
  • GEORGE OMAND BEAVIS - Birth: 08 NOV 1855 Edinburgh Parish, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland
MARGARET BEAVIS - Birth: 14 SEP 1857 Edinburgh Parish, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland
JANET CRAWFORD BEAVIS - Birth: 12 AUG 1859 Edinburgh Parish, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland
WALTER BEAVIS - Birth: 29 JUL 1861 Edinburgh Parish, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland
DAVID BEAVIS - Birth: 16 JUL 1864 Edinburgh Parish, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland
THOMAS JEBISTER BEAVIS - Birth: 16 JUL 1864 Edinburgh Parish, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland
HELEN OMAND BEAVIS - Birth: 01 MAY 1867 Edinburgh Parish, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland
So the only (slight) difference from your list is one of the 1864 twins who you list as Thomas or James, he seems to have been registered as Thomas.

The parents' marriage is given as:
  • WALTER BEAVIS / JESSIE OMAND - Marriage: 25 APR 1854 Saint Cuthberts, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland
All the best,

Andrew Paterson

You need to go and spend a little bit of money at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Just search in the 1871 census index on the basis of the surname BEAVIS, no given names, and you will find the whole family, plus possible relations in Glasgow.

PS This is the family in 1881

Dwelling: 30 Elmwood Ter
Census Place: South Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland

Ellen O. BEAVIS U 13 F Edinr, Edinburgh, Scotland

Two strongly suspect mistranscriptions here, - Margart ORMOND may be OMOND, and "Jerry" just has to be Jessie !!

PPS Do a death search on the surname BEAVIS at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and you'll be able to track a few of family.

Hi Julie,

I notice the family are also mentioned on Tony Gott's excellent Shetland Page.

http://www.bayanne.info/Shetland/

It doesn't really add to what you have - but it does give a lot of info on Jessie's ancestors.

Hi Julie,

Wish there were more sites like Tony's - he's doing a great bit of work for those with Shetland ancestry.
Alas my only "connection" to the islands is through a GG-aunt who married a fellow from Unst.

Glad you liked it - Jack

Which explains why the deaths of Walter and Jessie don't appear in the Scottish records :!:
