Deaths of Patrick McKeon /& Magaret Bannon .....

Post by Brenda » Thu Mar 08, 2007 3:32 am

Looking for grandparents death record .

I have a record of the marriage on June 6th 1914 @ St John's Catholic Church Fauldhouse [ by banns] between Patrick McKeon quarryman, 41, of Braeside Terrace Fauldhouse, [son of Matthew McKeon, labourer, decd, and Mary m/s McLiney? dec. ] to Maggie Bannon, housekeeper, 27 of Dixon's Row Faldhouse, daughter of Patrick Bannon dec, & Elizabeth m/s Kelly dec .....Winess was Thomas McKeon.

Patrick & Maggie are my paternal grandparents, [ both born in Ireland ]This was the only record of them I found when my father John, died.

I remember as a child in Glasgow visiting my grandmother at Woodilee Hospital, would they have a death record? I have no recollection of my grandfather, think he died before I was born

Hi Brenda:

Have you checked ScotlandsPeople for a death record?

There are 3 men named Patrick McKeon, ages 41 - 83, who died between 1914 and 1956 and of those only 1 was born in 1873 +/- 3 years.

If your grandmother died before 1956, hers would be there as well.

Hi Brenda,
Playing with the free search on Scotland's People I see that there is a death in 1940 for Patrick McKeon, born 1873. He died in Partick, Glasgow City. Does this sound like him? I started out using wildcards, but got too many hits! So opted for the spelling you gave. Maybe in these more recent records the spelling is more likely to be standard!

Maggie, however, is harder to find. Might she have died after 1956 and thus not be in the index?
All the best,
Sarah

P.S. Frances beat me to it :D

Deaths Bannon / McKeon

Post by Brenda » Thu Mar 08, 2007 10:24 am

Thanks Frances & Sarah.

I remember my grandmother lived in Partick before she went into the hospital, so that one could well be his.

I still haven't worked out how to use Scotlands People

What would I do without all the kind folks here on Talking Scot?
Thanks so much

Take care

Brenda

Hello Brenda,

You can request the records.

I don't know why your gran was there. If you read this previous post it will give you info (and a wee bit of advice) how to go about it.

Thanks to all who offered suggestions .
I made contact with someone in Scotland who gave me the information on my grandmother's death.

Couldn't have done it without TalkingScot! :D

THANK YOU
