Maybe this has been covered previously, but will someone tell me what this message is - (Page 0/17) in front of the surname of my person of interest in the 1841 Free Cen?

Hi Lizzie
Can you maybe give us a little more information e.g. what is the surname? Where is he/she living? age? occupation? Is the person in a household or living on their own? If in a household, who are the others there?
Once we have the correct record we can maybe help you out here.
Best wishes
Lesley

Hello Lesley,
Same old thing I am afraid, found a Margaret Macrae (gg grandmother)
living in Loggie, Lochbroom age 5. Right age for my Margaret.
Living with Kenneth 75 Crofter
Christie 55
Donald 35
William 25
Catherine 20
Mary 20
Macrae surname for all
No other occupations other than Kenneth.
Unfortunately for me there was not much information in 1841
Very curious to know what this 0/17 means.

I've had a couple of similar notations on my 1841 relatives on freecen. None of them had a 0, which makes me wonder if yours is something different, but with mine it seemed to indicate that that individual was listed on the next page of the census as if they got to the last line of the page before they got to the last member of the family and continued on the next page. Maybe yours is something simliar?

Hi Lizzie
Folio numbers appear on references to English census pages, but not on Scots ones, thus the zero.
Best wishes
