Hi Maggie,
This might be John in 1881?; and if so, then where is wife Jane?
Can't see them together.
But this John is as unmarried - a page error? transcription error?
Everything else fits!

Mary Young Anderson DC 1879
Hi Maggie,
The GROS data for 15yr old Mary Young ANDERSON's 1879 DC is 573/X0. 0082.
That number would suggest Paisley.
Maybe there is more than one book?, and that is causing problems linking to an image?
Anyway, please leave it with me and i'll try and find it next time i'm at Park Circus.
Even if there is no digital image, the fiche can be looked at.

Re: Mary Young Anderson DC 1879
Ah Jack, the X-numbers. That is an issue that has come up before. The X-numbers are ones where the registration books were filled up before the end of the year and a supplementary book was started. Unfortunately the supplementary books started at certificate number one. Thus giving a series of duplicate numbers of certificates. The X is an indication that this certiicate is in the supplementary book.Jack wrote:Hi Maggie,

This has given ScotlandsPeople indexing problems. I thought SP had resloved the matter, but plainly not, or at least not in this case.
All thebest,

Hello Jack
thankyou for your message and your help i was beginning to think that prehaps all my Gardners/Gardiners had gone off to "garden in pastures new " as i sure can't get a foothold with them at all.
Goodluck with the X numbers at park circus Jack and thanks for saying youd have a look it's appreciated.

Re: Mary Young Anderson DC 1879
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the explanation!
It makes more sense to me now as the "X0" didn't....
I've come across a few fiche that have two books for the same Registration District.
And if memory serves me right they were headed, for eg, 573 (1) and 573 (2).
There's no way of telling if you've got the "right" fiche till you look at the page image.
Cheers - Jack
