Hi there
Could I possibly ask anyone if they can please do a look-up for me? I have really hit a brick wall. I am looking for information on David Bowman b? married to Catherine McLean b? I have tried scotlandspeople for the marriage certificate without success. I found on the IGI site that they were married on 13 November 1847 Dunblane, Perth, Scotland. I also found on the IGI site that there was a daughter - Jean Burnett Bowman b30 December 1857 Forfar, Angus, Scotland. I know that other than Jean, they had a son, James Bowman(my gg grandfather) born about 1852 Dundee, Angus, Scotland. I am totally at a loss where to go from here.
Thank you
Anne

Hi Anne
Not sure just where you're located but the quickest method to look up an 1861 census might be a visit to your local LDS library where you can order in microfilms and examine them yourself. Hopefully within the next year (maybe) SP will have that year available online as well.
In the meantime though...have you searched for the death of Catherine or David yet? If they died in Scotland after 1855 (which would appear obvious with a child born in 1857

) then their DC would show parents names (if the informant was reliable that is!!) Now with the handy dandy new facility on SP to search for females by both married and maiden surnames I'm sure you'll have no trouble in finding Catherine's (big hint 1873 BOWMAN CATHERINE MCLEAN F 47 ST PETER DUNDEE CITY ANGUS 282/01 0039)
Best wishes
Jean
