Near identical birth records
I have 2 birth records from SP. Apart from the birth date and registration date which are 3 years apart they are identical. Parents names including mothers maiden name are the same. The parents marriage date and the county they were married in are the same and the details of where the person was born are the same. The only thing that is different is the birth date and year. How can I tell which is the correct record?

Sorry, I have solved the problem myself. It just occured to me that what if the child with the older birthdate died very young and then when they had a child 3 years later they gave him the same name. So went searching for a death record and bingo that's exactly what happened

You'll find that was common practice. Many families liked to keep names alive, and so re-used it if a child died young.
