Hi Heather,
I'm being even slower than usual just now - is Agnes' 1868 MC not proof?
Jack

Yes and no.I was told to always find more than 1 source of proof. So while her marriage states she is the child of John Laurie and Agnes McMillan that's all I have for now.(I have a relitive who has a different mother surname on his marriage and death. How do I know which is right?Believe me ,I have learned the hard way not to accept everything on these certs as gospel.Down that road leads madness.

Hi Jack,
sorry but i havent accessed the deaths for john and agnes yet, i wont be able to until next week.
Just thought i would say John Lawrie and his wife Ellen emigrated to the usa in 1885 with one of her brothers and his family. They were part of "The Ormiston Colony" who sailed on the Furnessia.
bye for now

Thanks Heather,
I know what you mean - one MC isn't enough.... I (like most folk) have very many Statutory Records with wrong names - mainly DCs, but lots of MCs, and even BCs.
But i'm sure you & Kaz have the right family, and hopefully the censuses will bring everything together.
Buchanan Terrace was on the Greenock Rd (a nothwards continuation of Caledonia St). I *think* they were buildings that formed part of it, and not actually a side street.

ps - My "To Do Box" has "Make list of all Paisley's streets from 1841 onwards and where they were". That was 2yrs ago - one of these days....

I didn't even know I had Agnes' death.I had filed it wrong.
But I figured if I had that one maybe I had John's ,so I checked previous searches on SP.Bingo! To be fair I have Lauries on both sides of my family and I may have been looking for one and when it didn't fit forgot to check the other. You know what it's like when you have a thought rolling around and you want to focus on it.I'll check and see if there is any other little jems I missed.
