Hello Lesley
I think I am seriously confused! I have my George Ballingall dying 30 July 1827 from his will. This may well be the same George with headstone saying he died 27 July 1827 but if so then I have his birth well incorrect based on age at death. I only got the Fife CD last year & obviously haven't backtracked and checked all my deaths/births/ages. The CD has both the MI and the Will with the 2 slightly different dates. It would seem I have the wrong George Ballingal or the wrong Grace - or both!
The will refers to Grace Dun or Ballingall, daughter of David Dun tenant of Wester Rossie - so I know Grace Dun his wife is the right Grace. According to me they married at Kettle - December 11 1818 (Meldrum?) - I have 5 children (George, David, Jean, Peter, Janet). I'm sure there is mention of the Ballingals in some documents for others of my Duns - will have to check.
I will study what you have sent & send a PM later

The Kettle marriage is on SP
11/12/1818 BALLINGAL GEORGE GRACE DUNN/ M KETTLE /FIFE 435/ 0030 0457
- he is from Kettle, she is from Collessie
p.s. I have photos of the Ballingall stones if you are interested. (they may take a while to find.....!

Re: Cautioner
Collessie was about equi distant from Wester Rossie as Kettle - at some stage the family changed parishes as the only child of David Dun's wife three was baptised in Collessie - 1826.LesleyB wrote:The Kettle marriage is on SP

It would seem the main thing I have wrong is the father of George Ballingall - still checking that

Re: Cautioner
Hi Trish
I grew up around 5 miles from Kettle, and have lived in this area almost all my life, so I am reasonably familiar with the placenames and where the places are
If you need any photos of particular places, farms etc. just send me the details and once the weather gets a bit warmer, I'll venture out on a photo trip!
George Senior who d.1793 and George d. 1827 are both on the same stone at Kettle. (Fife death index does not mention these things, so more difficult to make the connections, maybe) In MI book they are listed as:
"Geo. Ballingall, tenant Rameldry 20.5.1793, 79; descendants Patk. Ballingall died Ayton in Adbie Parish 8.1813, 43, Geo. Ballingall, tenant Rameldrie 27.7.1827, 62 "....etc.
Best wishes
