Post by WilmaM » Thu May 13, 2010 10:24 am

It was announced in the local paper [The Falkirk Herald] today that the Baptismal Roll for Blackbraes and Shieldhill Parish Church is now on the church website:

http://www.bsandm-church.org.uk/

the Roll is in the form of a PDF doc at :
http://www.bsandm-church.org.uk/Baptism ... 201900.pdf

It's ordered year by year with details of :
YEAR DATE CHILDS NAME BORN YEAR PLACE FATHERS NAME MOTHERS NAME
where recorded.
BAPTISMAL RECORDS FOR BLACKBRAES AND SHIELDHILL PARISH CHURCH OF SCOTLAND.
FROM 20 APRIL 1884 to 30th DECEMBER 1900
The original church building was erected in 1867 at the junction of Church Road, California and the main Shieldhill - Avonbridge road.
The Rev William Smith ministered the church for 42 years until his death on the 12th February 1916.
He was the signator to all the following entries.
These entries have been extracted from the original baptismal roll with the spelling taken as written.

Very interesting, pity the entries were not a little earlier as my grandmothers family had moved on by 1884.
