mclean of lochs

hi, i am trying to find the birth of john mclean born lochs 1786-1788 i know he was born in lochs from the 1851 census and i also have 1841 census both have him living in sandwick, he was a navy pensioner in 1841, can anyone help please? with thanks.

Sorry, there's no such animal! The recording of births/baptisms and marriages did not start in these parishes until the early nineteenth century (1831, in the case of Lochs).

thanks. any idea how i find his parents now? or have i hit the end of my search.

Did he live until 1855? If so, his death certificate should give you the names of his parents.

You could try a pensions records search on that page. I don’t know how complete the indexed records are. There’s also the Trafalgar Ancestors search, I didn’t find anything useful in either.
