There's been a transcription error into the IGI - Susan IS another daur; mother's name is very clear as McMILLAN. Possibly wee Susan has died young - missing from all censuses. By coincidence, she's about the same age as the 3yr old William Henderson in 1841.

Hi jack,
Thank you for the info it is very appreciated.
i found the following info in my notes when i went through them
Susan Dalziel Lawrie died 4 nov 1838.
Also found this while i was looking probably no connection but thought i would mention it.On the 1851 Census for John Lawrie and Agnes McMillan there is a servant by the name of Flora Ralston, John and Agnes's son James.R.Lawrie born 1854--the R stands for Ralston, probably no connection but you never know.
bye for now

Hi Kaz,
This was in my drafts folder for some reason - but you more than likely know of them already. The 1856 MC would need to be looked at to see if Margaret's parents are James Lawrie & Mary Nicholson.

Anyone still searching for Lawries?
Interesting thread for me, as a descendant of the Lawrie family. It looks like James Lawrie b 1788 m Mary Nicholson had brothers, but no specifics were posted. I have the William Lawrie b 1858 family moved to Barrow and then in 1901 a John Lawrie b1879 residing with James Bannister Lawrie b 1885 in barrow, both workng on the ships. But who is this John? I guess a descendant of one of those missing brothers?
Any help anyone can give, would be really great.
