KILMORY ESTATE (Lochgilphead) MISSING RECORDS

Post by Billiegirl » Thu Feb 27, 2014 6:09 am

Hello - wasn't quite sure which section to post this in, but I'm trying to locate the early 19th century estate records for KILMORY, Loch Gilphead, Argyll.
Argyll and Bute archives seem only to have some for much later in the century. The ones I need are from about 1790 - 1850, so I can find out more about my gt gt gt grandfather.

I have heard that the records went to America when the Campbell-Ordes quit Kilmory, I think in the 1950's.

I know that this is a long shot, but thought that someone out there might know what happened to them, and whether they still exist?

Would it be worth asking the Clan Campbell Society of North America?

Any ideas gratefully received!

Hi Billiegirl
It looks like no-one out there has an answer for you but I thought it might help to bring the topic to the top again just in case there is a kind, informed soul who missed your post first time.

Hi Russell, thanks for that - I've only just found your reply. It seems such a tough "ask", but I thought it was worth a try anyway. One just never knows! :D
