St Peter's Dalbeth Interment Records - 'Owner'

Hi, just joined today and great to find such helpful resources all in the one place - thank you!

Is there any significance to the term 'owner' rather than relation to the deceased (eg son, daughter etc) where this appears on a burial record? Just wondering if it might mean that the person died in a poorhouse/institution rather than close to family?

I'll have lots more questions but thanks in advance if anyone knows!

The "owner" is the person who actually purchased the lair (burial plot) while it often refers to a member of the immediate family it is not necessary it may even refer to the deceased.
As an example I have one where several children from different families are buried but the lair owner is their grandfather who was buried elsewhere.
