elusive fathers

Post by grissel » Sat May 21, 2022 3:32 pm

Im looking for a Henry Moore mentioned on my Grandmother Mary Moore's Poor law record as putative father of her coming child . The poor law record is dated 1896 and it states that Henry Moore was recently druggist in Dr W Gregors shop in Dalmuir. I'm ](*,) any help appreciated.

hi Grissel,
I'm really not finding anything at all for these names in that area.
The closest I have uncovered was the census in 1891:
Bluevale Street, Barony, Camlachie, Lanarkshire, Scotland
Household members (5 people)
First name(s) Last name Relationship Marital status Sex Age Birth year Occupation Birth place
Robert W Gregor Head Married Male 52 1839 Packer druggists Perth, Perthshire, Scotland
Margaret Gregor Wife Married Female 52 1839 - Perth, Perthshire, Scotland
David Gregor Son Unmarried Male 20 1871 Plumber Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland
Henry Gregor Son Unmarried Male 17 1874 Apprentice druggist Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland
James Gregor Son - Male 12 1879 Scholar Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland
Camlachie in Glasgow's east end is a long way from Dalmuir [Dunbartonshire].

I had hoped for a newspaper mention of a Doctor or Chemist shop but nothing.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
Wilma

Thanks for trying William . I've looked at valuation rolls and had a look at census with no luck .
