Hello Clarkie,

If you go to Freecen http://freecen.rootsweb.com/ and search 1841 for Robert Mann age 30 in the Parish of Moffat you’ll find Moreland. If you click the next household buttons you’ll find five households there. Further clicking here and there will take you on a tour of the area.

All the best,
Alan

Moorland

The 1841 and 1851 census shows 3 households with the name Moreland. No trace of any of the names there in 1861. This ties in with the maps which although the area was surveyed in 1858/9, it was not on the version published in 1861 but was there on the 1879 publication.

I now need to find names of people who resided at Moreland or Moorland after 1881? Does anyone know of census index sites for Moffat 1881 or later.

Hi Clarkie

If you use the LDS 1881 census disks, or the LDS transcription on SP you can search by address.

Best wishes
Lesley

Thanks Lesley,
Good idea but no returns on SP despite using variations & wildcards.
