hi scott; thanks for that - some further info i found(not sure where !!) shows a James Wishart married to Isobel Thomson(he was the son of John Wishart and Agnes Edward) In Old Machar, Aberdeen. Their family consisted of Alexander B.26 Oct 1742 and William b. 18 Jun 1748 - plus a Isobel, James,Janet - all born in Old Machar. A few more pieces to the puzzle
thanks
Dale

Re: A Dictionary of Scottish Emigrants to Canada
Hi Dale,
I'm unclear as to how they might be related other than that two forenames match the two Wisharts you are researching? If they are related to Christopher then I would suggest that they are two of the many Dumfriesshire Wisharts who have not had baptisms recorded but who show up in later records? The Dumfriesshire family came via Thomas Wishart who was born in Fife, and unlikely to be related to the Aberdeenshire families during this period (who I believe have been quite extensively documented). Perhaps the info you found was someone trying to make a connection without knowing the possibility of a Dumfriesshire link?
I'd be interested if you have further information concerning the 'Aberdeen' William and Alexander.
Best wishes,
Scott

Re: A Dictionary of Scottish Emigrants to Canada
Would you have any information on the Milne family of Miramichi, NB. Helen Milne married Christopher Wishart April 10, 1832, in Miramichi.
Would you know if this Milne family is associated with the Milne family of Shediac NB

Hi Ron and a warm welcome to TalkingScot
On the first page of this thread, you may have found some information on various members of the Wishart family in New Brunswick which might offer some clues as to which might be connected.
I will check the book when next I go to the library, but in the meantime these New Brunswick sources may be of some help.

Further New Brunswick resources can be found at

Hope this is of some help,

William Milne Married to Isabella Henderson
William Milne b Scotland abt 1760, immigrated to Miramichi abt 1790, married Isabelle Henderson b Scotland abt 1765 . The coule may have been married in Scotland or Miramichi not sure. They raised a family in Miramichi including Katherine b. 1787, Margaret, b ?, Isabella, b. 1790, Alexander b. 1791, Helena b. 1796, Jennet b.? and John B. 1801. After 1818 William Milne and his wife Isabelle Henderson disappear from the Miramichi and in a letter of transaction abt 1818 William sold all his possessions to his son Alexander. Recently someone send me the following information pertaining to the baptism of a child of William and Isabella Henserson born 1823 Scotland. Wondering if you may have access to more information on this event or the death of William and Isabelle Henderson in Scotland.
"There was a transcription from Scotland Births and Baptisms 1564-1950, for Elspet Milne born 2 April 1823 and christened 5 April 1823 in Keith, Banff, Scotland. The parents were William Milne and Isabell Henderson. "
If William Milne and his wife Isabelle Henderson did return to Scotland and had another child she would have been 58 A date of death ffor this William Milne would be interesting to see. Thank you for your consideration
