Further to having regions

I think it should remain as it is, as it broadens our knowledge of different areas we might not bother to look at. It has also been a good number of years since I was in Scotland, and regretably my knowledge of counties is not exactly what it should be

If you look at the indexes you will see that even though there might be only a few replies, there is usually a very much larger number of people who just have a keek, often when I look I will see a familiar name, and have a further look, just in case it is one of my long losts.
So good decision AG =D>

An Alternative

Post by Skywave » Mon Jan 02, 2006 4:43 pm

Hi All,

Some time ago I expressed a willingness to help members with any research on the ground in West Lothian I have had takers. I have no doubt that is is due to the fact that the offer was only seen by the members taking an interest in that particular post. While I agree with AG's point of view on regional forums on TS, could we not find some way of listing members who are willing to give such help and use Email/PM's as method of contact. :D

Hullo Ron.

May I first wish you a Happy New Year, with encouraging results for your research throughout 2006.

My first reaction to your post was "Good idea". On reflection however, I wondered if a name on a list as "Ready to Help", would put someone under a certain obligation to spend a lot of time helping all and sundry.

As things stand, each of us is free to offer help or not, depending on the free time and accessibility we have, at any particular moment.

There is always the possibility too for those who wish to do so, to make the kind of offer you did.

Personally I'm delighted that someone has offered help for the Aberdeen area and am about to send the poster my "wish list".

All the best
Catriona

Catriona,

Good point so maybe it should read "Help may be available".

Ron

Happy searching :D
