Well I'm just about to go and cook dinner, then I'm going to buy more credits and get to the bottom of this tonight!!!

I haven't had any great success in a while - so I'm having a Hogmany bash :P , sad isn't it? Most folk are out partying I'm cruising the Scottish census returns.

Nothing has been ruled out yet Pinkie - stik with me and hopefully we'll see it through to a fruitful end

Hi Pinkshoes

That Jessie Ann had the wrong parents on the 1881 census.

JustJean's Jessie Ann born in 1881 looks like a better bet than the one I found in 1883. Presumably born after the census, which is why she doesn't appear.

Thanks for that Jean - I'm looking forward to the outcome - someone else's searches are nearly as good as your own :)

Hi Pinkie

It's good when you get involved at the beginning. As you say it gets nearly as exciting as your own.

I'm going out at 8.30. so hope we find out the answer soon..............no pressure Janice!

Hello everyone

Took a wee break to do some of that infamous Hogmanay housecleaning (must say that habit didn't survive the US borders on my tree  )...and now I'm back....and must apologize as I didn't mean to leave you all in suspense!

Yes the Jessie Ann born in 1881 is found on SP. Note you need to search on MacLean or use a wildcard of M*cLean. For good measure I went with J* born 1878-1882 (I think would have to double check that range  ) born anywhere in Ross & Cromarty...and got a pageful of results (well worth the 1 credit) There was only one born in Urray which is where we already know Donald and Lilly were residing in the 1881 census. Her name was Jessie Ann.....a view of the BC shows parents of Donald and Lily (and their marriage date!). Since you know the parents names from her DC...and they are found on 1881 without any children...and then as Jean Jeanie surmised after the census they have a Jessie Ann....well it only makes sense this is the one!!....

Best wishes
Jean
