What a great name !!
Battersea comes under Wandsworth - now.
Lambeth is now more Clapham, Streatham way or further South London.
So they probably moved further out like most did.
I dont know if the boroughs have changed since the 30,s though

EDIT Battersea to Clapham in terms of travel is about 20 mins on a bus on a good day !!

Check out where in Lambeth your birth certificate is for or your brother could be gone for days ! (covers a big area)
