Hi Pinkshoes,
Still no joy. :(
Tried LKS, Glasgow, DNB, RFW - but no sign of them.
--
Looked for George as; GEO* B* age 38 +/- 10yrs.
Also as just Geo* with no surname, but none similar to "Bateman".
And all born in Wales of ANY name that were in LKS 1851 - nothing suitable.
Lucinda, forename as LU*, also as just *A.
Wee Marion as M*N (no surname) age 5 +/- 2yrs.
So they're either missing, in another County, or i'm not searching properly (the most likely reason!).
--
In the indexes some families shout and wave from an upstairs window,
and one family will sit in the back parlour with the curtains drawn.
I think that's where yours were in 1851....

Jack it was very good of you to look - thanks for that. As for the parlour, I doubt if they had one - think they were more likely doon the pit or all oot the back for whatever reason! And there's little chance of them shouting cooooeeee at me - don't think they like me much

As George was a miner (coal, ironstone, whatever) I suppose there's a vague chance they could be in Fife or Midlothian but I rather doubt it.

Maybe have to let sleeping Batemans lie!

Thanks for trying.

Best wishes

Pinkshoes

Hi Pinkshoes,
I should've added - can't see them in AYR, MLN, or WLN 1851 either.
Hope they do turn up for you. :)
