Quite costly, but if they're not obvious in England then 1841 in Scotland is your ONLY other resource. It may take nearly £20 to view all 11 to 15 year old David Wilsons but, hopefully, one will have a wee brother, James, with the all important "E" in place of birth.
Not only Ancestry has indexing problems, loads of McCurdys are indexed as McCardy in the 1861 census on Scotland's people and only two days ago I was looking for a Sm?th. One of the Smiths turned out to be USHER (very clearly written) anyone looking for these Ushers wouldn't have a hope of finding them.
The index will be changed in due course.
Searching for Keogh, Kelly, Fitzgerald, Riddell, Stewart, Wilson, McQuilkin, Lynch, Boyle, Cairney, Ross, King, McIlravey, McCurdy, Drennan and Woods (to name but a few).
Also looking for any information on Rathlin Island, County Antrim, Ireland.
