I have made good headway on two of my brickwalls. I even got naturalisation info and address of a relative as their destination. I'm very happy :D

It also started working again for me and I managed to find details of my lot, but the info doesn't tally with what my contacts have told me (and that info didn;'t make good travel sense anyway) so I am pleased. There must be another Carson there somewhere however...as I am told that one brother was over 6' tall and the one I found is only 5'6".

Just in case people don't realise (like I didn't) the lists cover two pages in most cases. The little green arrow at the top will say next if there is another page. The second page is very useful.

And finally does anyone know what it means when someone is crossed off? Did they jump ship perhaps?

Hi nina

A site dealing with manifest markings that I have never taken the time to fully educate myself about is found here:

http://www.jewishgen.org/infofiles/Manifests/

I was always under the impression a crossed off name meant they missed the boat.....but I honestly don't know!

Best wishes
Jean

If you do find your rellie on a passenger list, make sure you look at the original, and at the second page. (hit the NEXT page button) Make a note what line your person is on, and on the second page, you can find the nearest relative they are leaving behind, who they are going to, and their height, hair and eye color and scars and things, on some, how much money in their pocket.
Happy hunting
