Hello Betty,

In the 1851 will of William, father of Elizabeth, husband of Christian Brown he was described as a baker at Tradeston. In 1841 he lived at Centre Street.

In the 1891 will of William, husband of Annie Ure he was ‘sometimes of Centre Street flour mills’. Here he is in 1881 –

Here is Ebenezer in 1881 (This is where I first found a link to the flour mills) -

Now I don’t know what the relationship was but I’m fairly sure they are related somehow.

If I were you I’d be very tempted to spend £5 to read the 11 page will of William who died in 1851. If elizabeth was you ancestor then it's part of your family history

Even £1 on SP to see who William’s (who died in 1891) parents were. But if the credit card could stand it I'd be reading his 23 page will too.

Hope this all makes sense.

Regards,
Annette M

Hi Annette

Thanks for that information.

The reason I am holding back from ordering the will is that this query is on behalf of a neighbour. I have already spent £6 of her money.

I will probably end up paying for William Clark Shaw's and William Primrose's Will just for my own curiosity.

I have not found anyone in my own family that has left a Will.

I can always give it to her for her christmas!!

Thanks again for your help.

Betty

Hi Betty,

Hopefully she'll want to pay for it herself. :D

Just to let you know that you don't have to order the will. Once paid for you can read it online and/or download it.

Hi Annette

Just thought you would like to know that I got the Will for William Primrose dated 1851.

Everything has tied up beautifully.

He is the William from the first census in 1841 (Centre Street). His daughter Elizabeth married William Clark Shaw. He is mentioned in the will so I know I have the correct person. He had other children not mentioned in census of 1841. One being William who I think was John Ure Primroses father.

Thanks again for all your help.
