And I don't know if it is the correct image or not at the moment, cos I'm still wating to hear back from Cathy
...if you followed this, you deserve a large drink!
Best wishes

Hi Pandabean
I'm sorry but I didn't see anything in the Scotsman for your Andrew Robb - quite a bit about canals in the papers at that time, but mostly the one at Suez! Sorry it is not better news.
Best wishes

I got a hold of a copy of a realted neswspaper article and also found where he is buried, Camelon Cemetery I am popping along there hopefully tomorrow or Sunday for a look. Got to head to Falkirk for the weekend for a family doo.
Anyways the newspaper article does not mention a name but there are some clues that the article is related to Andrew Robb.
8th Feb 1883
BODY FOUND IN THE CANAL - Yesterday afternoon the lock-keeper at Lock No. 16 discovered the body of a man floating in the canal. When it was taken out of the water the body was found much disfigured and had the appearance of being in the canal for considerable time. The deceased appears to be about 40 years of age and is of a slendour make, with dark hair. The body was taken to the Poorhouse for identification.
Is it likely this report is related to Andrew. He was 40 when he died and his body was found a month after the drowned. Is it possible for a body to go unoticed for a month in the small canal.

Hi Pandabean
Great to hear you found a newspaper report
despite my efforts!

Was it in the Scotsman after all?

I'd kept the dates pretty restricted, which with hindsight, given the nature of the death, was maybe a bit silly. Ach well, you live & learn! Really glad you found something too.
Best wishes

I found it in the Falkirk Herald for 8th Feb 1883. I have been in contact with Falkirk Library and they looked for me.
Again thanks for looking in the Scotsman.
