It seems to chop and change .... credits I purchased 3 weeks ago and which had expired were returned last night with some 1700 hours until expiry. I logged on this morning and credits have expired again.

Hi all
Interesting you should mention this...I could swear the last couple of times I bought credits, I've only had a week to use them up - on at least two occasions towards the end of last year for definite. I'd completely forgotten that it had been extended to 90 days back in October. I bought credits last week and I'm now told I have 196hrs left, which does not quite add up, but I was refunded 5 credits acouple of days after purchase - but that is certainly not 90days...? :?

Best wishes
Lesley

Ah-ha...I just found this receipt in my email dated 7 Jan 2007:
Credits Purchased:

Your account has been credited with 30 credits (168 hours). [that is only 1 week!!]

Your purchase includes credits that you can now use to view search results and images of statutory records of births, deaths and marriages and images of census records.

Total Charged: GBP £6.00
I can feel a contact form coming on....

Erm... I think the extended period only started on 12th January, Lesley.

I'd agree on that Mary.....it did just get implemented yesterday. However they do intend to make it retroactive. So the receipt you received Lesley for a purchase prior to the 12th would not have stated the extended shelf life. If you've spent them all then it will never show an extended time...but if you still have some in your account from a purchase during this time then they should become now longer lived. Does that make sense? I'm so glad I don't work for SoL right now in trying to sort this......it's so much easier to just be a public announcer of the good news!

Sorry Jean. It was Lesley's comment that "I'd completely forgotten that it had been extended to 90 days back in October" that I was referring to.

I know any existing credits that were bought before the 12th would be given the full 90 days. (Well, that is the theory, but it keeps switching back and forth between 7 days and 90 days - wee programming glitch maybe  )
