Oh no! I've just spent the best part of 3 hours trawling through this thread, to and fro' the wonderful links, and now I get to the end and find the mastermind behind this wonderful resource has gone! Awful.

Well, I hope if he drops by he'll see this and I can pass of my thanks and best wishes to him. This was an excellent project. I hope it stays online for many years to come for others to use. I have many seafarers in my line and have already found photo's and information about several of the vessels they were on, and I've only been on this site since this morning!

Hi Ann,
Don't worry, Hugh keeps popping in again. I see his last post was just over a month ago, so maybe he's due to pass through again soon! He'll be glad that you appreciate all the work he put in over the years.

Cheers,
Sarah

Hi foggyman
As a new member you may not be aware that Talking Scot recently had to move from our previous server, which was shut down unexpectedly, to another new one. We are currently in the process of rebuilding the site bit by bit and that is why some posts are not there - they are still to be restored from the backups.

If you can bear with us, eventually, all previous posts should be visible, but it may take a while as there is a lot of work to be done - we were (and indeed still are!) a large forum.

Best wishes
Lesley
