Where did you hear of TalkingScot? (2008)

I have joined the forum just today. I had been wanting to find a forum like this as researching in Scotland is not something I have done as yet. I found mention of this forum on the Scottish Genealogy News and Events (SGNE) blog.

My grandmother came to the states in the early 1900's with her father Edward Cummings Alexander Fender. He was a bakers apprentice I believe and was a Mason. My grandfathers Duncan family came over in the 1700's but I have yet to make the connection. A distant cousin said she grew up with the story of 3 Duncan brothers that were sent to the Colonies to end up at Bee Log, North Carolina. I do have them to Bee Log area but have not found these brothers as yet.

I am looking forward to finding my way through Scotland's records to find my roots and hope to visit there as soon as humanly possible.

Lucky you, you have family that left Scotland recently, so you should be able to find them in Scotland with no trouble. If your Duncans who came to North Carolina in the 1700's are anything like my Stewarts who came to Maryland in the 1700's... it won't be so easy

I was browsing on 'Rootsweb' today and saw your 'TS' site mentioned
to someone to try it for help with their research, so browsed on over
myself and here I am registered,signed,sealed & delivered,,,,!!!!

Been reading everything I can find and think you have a terrific site

I joined mid December 2008. I noticed your site mentioned in the 10th of November 2008 issue of the Ancestry Weekly Journal newsletter, in an article on Research in Scotland by Sherry Irvine, CG

I'm looking for great grandparents who came from Isle of Harris or Lewis in the 1880's to settle in Western Canada.

Researching McLeod, McSween, McInnes, Douglas, Nicholson to name a few.

Lots of reading to do here looking for tidbits of info.
