Would anyone be willing to do a look-up for me for Tillycoultry in 1841? I'm primarily interested in an Andrew Kirkland and his family - Andrew born around 1798.
I went to Tillycoultry at the weekend and have managed to find Andrew's grave so that's a major achievement. He's almost the furthest back I've managed to take my Kirklands.
Any information found would be very much appreciated.

Hi Deborah
I had a look at 1841 Census & only came up with one Andrew Kirkland born in that time frame. He was living with his family in Blantyre, Lanarkshire but his birthplace was shown as Scotland indicating he was born outwith that area.
His wife was Jean & he was shown as an Ag. Labourer. Children - Margaret, Jean, Elizabeth, John & James.
I did find an Andrew Kirkland & family living in Tillicoultry but his year of birth was given as 1811.
Hope this helps
Susan

Hmm - if the Andrew K in 1841 in Tillycoultry has a wife called Marion and children including James, Janet, William etc then it's the right one.

Hi Deborah,
The Tillicoultry one is Andrew (30)& Mary(30)(possibly Marion?) at Burnside, Tillicoultry- he is shown as a Mason.
Living with them are James(20), Janet(15), Elizabeth(15), Andrew(13), Jean(11), Ann(8), Margaret(6), William(2) & John(5m).
Looks like a mixture of Brothers & sisters & children due to the age range.

Hi Susan
Well, the age isn't right for Andrew himself but then again given the accuracy of the Census records I'm not surprised. His wife's age isn't correct either but the children sound about right. Andrew would have been about 42 or 43 and his wife 38 or 39. Correct address, too, so they're my lot - ignoring age mistakes!
Thanks for that, much appreciated
